I’m 15 weeks along today. Hooray! This pregnancy didn’t feel real for the first several weeks, but just yesterday I began to truly “feel” pregnant.
I’m loving it. I feel different this time around, but in a good way. The nausea hasn’t been nearly so bad and for that, I’m very thankful.
Here are a few little updates…
Weight Gain
No clue. I weighed myself at our hotel in London 3 weeks ago and found that I’d lost a couple of pounds, but there’s no scale in our flat in Oxford. All of my clothing still fits, though I’ve definitely “popped” much sooner this time around. I let a friend borrow all of my maternity clothes and I’m sure that I’ll be ready for some of them when we get back to NZ (when I’m 17 weeks along).
Pregnancy Fitness
There was a slight concern during the first few weeks of my pregnancy and I was advised to take it “very, very easy” on the exercising for the first trimester. So I did. However, I’m ready to get back into running and working out. I’ve ordered some pregnancy workout wear including this little gem from For Two Fitness:
I saw that tank top awhile ago on my friend D.A.R.’s blog (who has since stopped blogging – boo!) and remembered it for this time around. I also ordered a second tank and some workout capris from Fit2BMom.com.
Appetite, Aversions, and Cravings
My appetite has been non-existent, but the nausea is basically gone which certainly helps a lot. It comes around in the evenings sometimes, but it doesn’t last long. I haven’t been averse to anything, though I have been craving junk food like it’s going out of style. Are “Pringles” a food group?!
Sleep
It’s hit or miss. There were several weeks there where I was up 5 – 6 times a night to go to the bathroom. That’s tapered off somewhat and it’s now only about twice a night, which I consider a huge improvement. I don’t think Chris believed me when I told him that I was getting up so often in the night. Then last week he had some late-late night meetings and was wired when he got home. He was sitting in the lounge watching TV for awhile and kept seeing me go back and forth, back and forth, back and forth to the bathroom. It’s safe to say that he believes me now. He’s also been letting me sleep in some mornings, which has been fabulous. Instead of going in before 6am, he’ll go in after 7am (and after changing Joe and giving him breakfast – wonderful!). I’ve definitely appreciated that.
Baby Movement
I realize that 15 weeks seems very early to feel any sort of movement, but I’m sure that I’ve felt it. Just a slight tap-tap-tapping that happens either in the evening when I’m laying on the couch and relaxing or even later in the evening when I’m reading in bed.
Pregnancy Brain and Weird Dreams
I’ve got one for both of these this week. I have a midwife appointment the week that we get back to New Zealand and, guess what? I am totally confused about whether it’s on Monday or Tuesday. I’ve written it in my Google calendar but with all of the time zone changes, I can’t recall if it’s on Tuesday in New Zealand, which would show up Monday in the UK, or if I made a mistake and adjusted the time zone for just that appointment so that it truly is scheduled for Monday in New Zealand. I’m going to have to place an international call to find out.
As for weird dreams, well, I dreamt that when I went back to work, they had downgraded me from a nurse to a nursing assistant, and I was told that because I’d been on holiday for so long that I would have to prove myself as a nurse all over again. I was considering quitting and then woke up. Yikes!
Best Pregnancy Quote of the Week
This one’s from “Modern Family”. Not one of my favorite shows, but I saw this quote on FB last week and it made me laugh 🙂
Jay: You just woke up, how are you tired?
Gloria: Maybe because I’m turning food into a human!
Too true, Gloria, too true!
[…] yes, today I’m 18 weeks + 1 day along. Lots of changes have been going on since my last post at 15 weeks. First hings first, a pregnancy […]
I’m just still so excited that we get to follow you on the journey of having baby #2! It feels like just yesterday that you were pregnant with Joe. It’s crazy! 🙂
And I totally love that show and I laughed so hard at that line when she said it. SO true!
I’m SO behind on reading blogs (something to do with the 4 week old I’m snuggling as I type this) so I just saw this – congrats on your pregnancy!!! So exciting! 🙂
Love that t-shirt. I got nervous and quit running almost right away when I got pregnant. Wish I’d kept it up much longer!
yay, glad you’re feeling much better this time around 🙂 just realised it’s only another couple weeks until you’re back in NZ! cant wait to see you guys 🙂
