One of the burger restaurants in New Zealand is Burger Fuel, a multi-national chain that started on Ponsonby Road in Auckland. I wouldn’t classify Burger Fuel as being “fine dining”, but it isn’t exactly “fast-food” either. There’s one about a 3 minute walk from our apartment, so we phoned in an order {so nice to be able to do that!} and Chris picked it up. We didn’t get fries – I already had some frozen ones here at the apartment – so I can only attest to the burgers themselves.
And, we didn’t actually eat a true “burger”. Their veggie burgers sounded so good that we both got a different one. And they were good.
This is my “combustion vege” burger – a sunflower seed, chickpea, cumin, & coriander “pattie” topped with avocado, peanut sauce, salad {lettuce}, relish, and aioli. I enjoyed it, but I could’ve substituted the peanut sauce for plain old ketchup. It was ginormous and I could only eat about half. Chris had to eat the rest, and he agreed with me.
Chris got the “v-twin vege” burger – a mushroom, kumara, chickpea, & basil pattie with melted cheddar, plum sauce, salad, relish, and aioli.
It’s a lot of burger.
He really liked it. I think we’ll probably eat there again, but not too often. The burgers are a bit pricey {$9.20 – $14.90 for a burger alone}, and I like eating my own cooking. Still, it’s fun to try new places!
Wow, those sound crazy delicious! Interesting combination of toppings too:)
Those look really good!
so fun to try new places… but I definitely agree with you about eating at home (especially since the PBF is a chef)… we rarely go out to eat, because it’s not often that we find something that we can’t make for much cheaper at home!
chris’ burger sounds sooo good!
Those burgers sound amazing! While I was reading this, I realized that I’ve never tried to make my own veggie burger. I need to work on that.
Those sound delcisious. I’m a huge fan of veggie burgers and those both seem yummy (minus the peanut sauce, I think I’d be in the same boat with you there)
