Back in Lafayette, I always went to Christina’s for my hair. I’d gone to the same girl there for about 3 years, and she basically knew exactly what I wanted. This isn’t to say that I always did the same thing – sometimes, I’d go in and say that I wanted to get lowlights, or highlights, sometimes full foil, sometimes not, or that I wanted to chop it all off (up to my chin, once), or let it grow for several months (it’s quite long now). Sometimes, I was almost a brunette, sometimes practically platinum.
Also, I tried all sorts of products on my own before I started going there. Once I got introduced to the Schwarzkopf line, that was it for me (for now, at least). I’m hoping to find a salon around here that uses Schwarzkopf color & products. So far, the closest one I’ve found is Michael Anthony’s – about 20 minutes away. I’m interested to try it out. But don’t you agree that it can be so difficult to find a good hair stylist?
Here’s some of the stuff I’m using now.
Schwarzkopf Bonacure Color Save Conditioner
Schwarzkopf Bonacure Moisture Kick Shampoo
Schwarzkopf OSiS Grip Super Hold Foam
Schwarzkopf OSiS Grip Super Hold Spray
Schwarzkopf OSiS Sparkler Shine Spray
CHI Silk Infusion (not a Schwarzkopf product, but I still love it)
I haven’t been able to make it to a salon yet (too busy), so I’m nervous about getting fried, too. But we’ll see what happens! Good luck in DC!
forgot to mention … i am going to DC just for a weekend visit, but am so set on that color that i’m trying to squeeze a hair appt. in…
I can totally relate! I moved from West Michigan to Austin, TX 1.5 years ago, and since then I’ve had two horrendous haircuts and a color job that fried my hair even though I was not making it lighter. In April I went home for a visit, and I went to my old stylist to get some Schwarzkopf color that my old stylist uses. I only found your blog because I am googling salons in Washington, DC and looking for one that uses the same products – I’d rather try one of them that has the color I like than try another one here that doesn’t!
Well I don’t use ALL of that stuff at once, just most of it 🙂 So far, I’m liking Massachusetts, but I think ultimately we want to end up somewhere in the Southeast, closer to SC or GA, or TN.
If you decide to buy some of the Schwarzkopf stuff, be careful. Usually, the stuff sold online has been watered down, hence the lower price, so it’s best to buy directly from a salon.
Seriously girl, you are high maintenance, but that is okay!! I have never heard of this particular line so I may have to buy some and use it. And personally I prefer you plantinum rather than brunette, suits you better. And you’re right about finding a stylist. I just found one, finally after years of switching. She is awesome and has done the best highlights/lowlights ever! So yes, I commiserate with you on finding a stylist. Unfortunately you have to try a few to find the right one, which usually takes a while. Are ya’ll panning on staying in MA when Chris’ year is up?
