Laugh at me all you want, but some of my favorite wine comes from Indiana 🙂
It’s from this great winery – Oliver Winery – located on 35 acres in southern Bloomington. The grounds are gorgeous, they have bluegrass bands come in, a great big pond, beautiful landscaping, picnics, free tours, and of course, complimentary wine tasting! Here’s a picture of their tasting room (just a small portion of the property)…
And here’s one of the patio…
I’m excited that we’ll be moving to Indiana this summer, and I’ll be able to buy it again. My favorites are the Beanblossom Blush (a white zinfandel) the Soft Rose (a semi-sweet), and the Catawba (another semi-sweet). You can buy them from most of the major groceries and liquor stores in Indiana, and some out-of-state liquor stores carry them, too. I know what you’re probably thinking – “Good wine from the middle of American farmland?!” Yes, it’s true!
Do any of you have favorite independant wineries?
Yes!! I love Chateau St. Michelle !! It is sold nationally, I think… but it is just up the road, one hour away in Woodinville! The estate is beautiful!! My particular favorite is their “Muscat Canelli”. You must drive to the estate to purchase it. It is not sold nationally, only at their private estate. Wow !!! But it is divine! We usually buy cases of it when we visit 🙂
very cool!! i’ve never been to a winery… i reaaallly want to go to one or two this summer; i know it must be so fun!
I love this wine that my friend brought to our house one night but I can’t remember what it was called. I always forget to ask her. I’ll text her and find out!! I think it’s from Kentucky!!! XOXO
