I’m so excited! We leave for the States in less than 24 hours and Joe will be able to meet so many of our lovely family members and friends.
Packing for such a long trip requires a good amount of planning. Anyone who examined my luggage would be able to tell a few things about me: (1) that I have a child, (2) that I love to read, and (3) that I’m in the health field. My medical pack in our carry-on is absolutely well stocked…
- Brufen (Ibuprofen)
- Panadol (Tylenol)
- Zofran (for nausea)
- Imodium (because no one wants to spend the whole flight in the bathroom)
- Simethicone (because no one wants to sit next to someone with gas)
- Ambien (not for me – none of that stuff while breastfeeding!)
- Benadryl
- Lubricating eye drops
- Disposable hot/cool pad for aches
- Migraine shot for Chris
- Bonjela teething gel for Joe
- Plasters {aka, Band-Aids}
- Alcohol swabs
- Gauze
- Wisps toothettes {disposable tooth brushes}
Laugh if you want, but I’m the one that everyone will turn to when they get sick!
I stopped short at putting in a broad-spectrum antibiotic. I thought that might be overkill.
I guess you could say that I like to be prepared. Or that I’m paranoid. That’s what happens when you spend any amount of time in an ER and you’ve seen one too many episodes of “House”.
I’m so behind on reading and commenting but was thinking of you and praying for safe travels bc I knew your exciting flight was coming up. Have a great time and Happy Thanksgiving!
Haha! I’m glad I’m not the only one who does this. And … I’m not going to lie. I always throw in a z-pack or some cipro on an international flight. The chance that something “catching” on the plane would be covered by one is slim … but I figure maybe it would have a placebo effect on my body. Scary that I’m almost a doctor and I’m rationalizing a bad use of antibiotics for myself. I’d tell everyone else no way! 🙂
Have a great trip! 🙂
I always find that if you overpack, you never need any of it, but if you forget it, you NEED it. So Bravo!!
You’re sweet 🙂 Although I doubt that my traditional meds would come in handy with you guys! Packing Joe’s carry-on for a 12 hour cross-ocean flight has definitely cost me a few hours in research… hopefully it pays off!
Can you come fly with me when i have to go home solo with Ella this Christmas? I don’t even know where to start, and I’ve only got a 4-hour flight.
I’m with ya – you can never be too prepared! Heck, I’d probably throw in the antibiotics “just in case.” Hope you have a GREAT trip!!!!!
I think this is wonderful! I always pack a little kit and I always need something out if it so I’m always glad I brought it! Travel safe 🙂
Oh I’m the same way when we travel! The one time I forgot advil I had to buy some in the airport for approximately $10, insane! I hope the trip goes well & Joe is a good little boy on the flight 🙂 Have fun!
