I had a realization while blow-drying my hair this morning – Chris and I have seen very little of New England since our move here in August. I had this big urge to get out of town this weekend and see the area where we live! So, Friday after work we’re headed up the coast to Freeport, Maine for a fun, overnight trip!
For the last few months we’ve been batting ideas back and forth about different places we’d like to see – we want to go up the Cape, see more of Providence (other than the airport, ha ha!), maybe a bit more of Boston. I’d also really like to go to Vermont, but that’s a bit farther, and Maine just seems like such a pretty place to visit. I think I could skip New Hampshire altogether and not feel bereft, but that’s just me.
So – Freeport, home of the LL Bean flagship store! I’ll admit, I’m inordinately excited about going there. Maybe that makes me a nerd, but I don’t care. Chris isn’t exactly “inordinately excited” about visiting LL Bean, but he’s happy that I’ll be happy, and he’s happy that we’ll be visiting this place – Cold River Vodka distillery, whose vodka is purported to be “Great with lobster. Perfect with sunset.” Sounds good to me! I think we’ll also probably stop at Blacksmiths Winery in South Casco. We’ll have to see how much time we have and how interesting they look once we get there, as well as how much vodka we’ve sampled at the distillery 😉
I love the LLbean store in Maine, it has the coolest things inside. We used to stop there when we went camping in Maine every summer, have fun 🙂
I am so jealous. I’ve never been to the east coast and am dying to go to Maine. It sounds like you guys will have a great time! 🙂
I have a friend who lives in Canada who goes down just to go to that store!!! I love LL Bean!!!

Cool sounds like a good little trip 🙂 which state do you guys live in? I think my friend worked at a summer camp as part of Camp America somewhere near Augusta, Maine. I just realised I got pretty close to Maine as well when i was over there as I flew out of Manchester, NH (was close-ish to Boston where i stayed for a few days). Boston is a cool city, I really enjoyed walking the 'Freedom Trail' having been a history & geography major at uni. Pretty much loved the New England reigon… esp NYC, Philly & D.C. 🙂 Really want to get back to the States again when its spring/summer over there next year..
